My spaceport. Of course the launch tower is on tracks so the vehicle is removed to some distance before launch.
The artist is about to take a famous reporter up for high altitude tests of a special stretch Wild Weasel modified to have two seats.
1942 Meshula Aerospace Stratomaster. The ailerons are different colors because it has been repaired in the field several times.
1942 Meshula Aerospace Wild Weasel Based on aerodynamic principles developed by the Horten Brothers in the 1930s. The engine is an experimental turbojet developed with Rolls Royce. The Weasel is almost invisible to radar, using little metal besides the engine. The wings are made from laminated wood, and the glue is mixed with carbon dust to diffuse and scatter radar. Spars and stringers are made from a brittle plastic, wrapped with string and covered with shellac - stresses are distributed over the skin instead. The plane is nearly silent from below because the engine exhausts over the top of the wing across acoustic baffles.
